Concept
In 2005 Allan Carrington was invited by EDUCAUSE to help pioneer podcasting at their national conference in Florida USA. It was 35,000 feet above the Pacific, as he returned home, that he began to develop the idea of ‘extending the wisdom’ of a conference through the podcasting of interviews with presenters and participants.
Allan soon after developed a A Model for Podcasting Educational Conferences, putting the concept into practice with his leadership of podcast teams at ASCILITE 2006 and LAMS 2006 To help interaction and feedback, interactive voice tools in were added in 2007. Dr. Ian Green joined with him subsequently, collaborating on the podcast program at ASCILITE 2007.
Ian, Allan and a podcast team have recently recorded interviews at ASCILITE 2008 and are presently in post production. Create World 2008 is the first Apple University Consortium (AUC) conference they have worked on and are currently leading an educational podcast program co-sponsored by the AUC and Computer Using Educators Inc (CUE) at MACWORLD 2009.
